Since commencing this information portal, the CREW has been very shocked of the amount of mis-treatment our animal friends suffer on a daily basis.
What sort of world is this - where not even our innocent K9 and feline companions are safe.
In a recent report covered by CNN in the city Guangzhou, dogs and cats are stored in fenced cages, starving, bleeding and disfigured. This is not a refugee for disadvantaged dogs and cats, it is not even a cruel pet store - it is a meat market.
At the Han River Dog Meat Restaurant in central Guangzhou, diners can choose from a long list of menu items, including dog soup, dog steak, dog with tofu and more. In the kitchen, the chef chops up meat for dog hot pot, one of the more popular dishes. Most customers like it spicy.
"Dog meat is good for your health and metabolism," explains Li, the hostess who declined to give her first name. "In the summer it helps you sweat."
Let me stop right here - haven't the western world (and for that matter the entire world) been brain washed for decades on how great meat is for you. Look at this, same thing going on here - yet you can draw the correlation and you know consciously that this is wrong....so why is it not wrong to slaughter a cow?
In the most bizarre twist to this story, the Chinese Government is know looking to legalise the sale of dog and cat meat. Making it legal for all to trade and sale and purchase dog flesh.
In this report, it has also identified farming of our beloved k9 and feline friends. Where upon, acres and acres of dogs and cats are raised just to be slaughtered for human consumption.
