Butterflies, Beetles, And Dragonflies Declining in Europe
Vegan Era  In a growing concern that is engulfing our Home, the smallest yet most significant animals are heading for extinction.
Our amazing Home and all of Her natural habitats exists in such beautiful accord with each other. The balance is so fine, that when the smallest element is out of order - it can have the most drastic affect on the eco system and in accord Human beings.
"When talking about threatened species, people tend to think of
larger, more charismatic creatures such as pandas or tigers, but we mustn't forget that the small species on our planet are just as important, and are also in need of conservation action," said Jane Smart, Director, IUCN Biodiversity Conservation Group. "Butterflies, for instance, play a hugely pivotal role as pollinators in the ecosystems in which they live."

It very well, may get to a point where we Humans forget how much rely on our wonderful animal friends. The beautiful bee pollinates the Earth, with out Her, we would not be able to share in the amazing fruit and vegetables that we do today.

In Europe 9% of butterflies, 11 % of saproxylic beetles (beetles that depend on decaying wood) and 14 % of dragonflies are threatened with extinction.

Most butterflies at risk are confined to southern Europe; their main threat is habitat loss, most often caused by changes in agricultural practices, either through intensification or abandonment, or to climate change, forest fires and the expansion of tourism,"' said Annabelle Cuttelod, IUCN Coordinator of the European Red List.

Unfortunately we are not heeding the call and stopping our destructive patterns. We are still destroying the Earth, we are still killing the beautiful animals that are here to provide us with all that need.

It is really like this, our wonderful animals friends do so much for us and our beautiful Home. They keep our Home in balance, and like the bee some of the smallest animals even protect us.

"Nature's future is our future, and if it fails, we will fail too," said EU Environment Commissioner Janez Poto?nik. "The ecosystem services nature provides, like the provision of food and water and climate regulation, are the vital backbone of our future prosperity. So when a Red List like this raises the alarm, the implications for our own future are clear. This is a worrying decline."
