VEGAN Party?
Vegan Era  Saturday night I walked into a party, looked at the food on the tables and habitually thought "I can't eat any of this!" and then I remembered, "THIS IS A VEGAN PARTY! IT'S ALL PLANT BASED FOODS!! YAY!"
Not that I get that excited by food, quite the contrary...I probably would not be so excited if everywhere I went all the food had no animal products involved...but when you go somewhere and you can eat
everything from pies to cupcakes, then it's kinda nice!

And what else was nice was that no-one was drinking, and we all had a plunged soy coffee to end the night! A non-alcoholic-vegan event...was I really in Australia on a Saturday night?? Pun intended!!

Which brings me to my new quest, just a small one.. - I am going to start calling and booking ahead "non-veg" restaurants to meet at with my vegan or non-vegan friends, give them some warning in advance and ask them if they can design a delicious vegan dish/es for the evening! Surely with some prior time to consciously think about preparing foods without animal products of any kind may help them to think up delicious meals for their future menus!

This may also give the many other people out there who don't always like to eat meat in every meal an alternate choice! Who knows.... with a bit of encouragement they could point out the 'environmentally friendly' meals on the menus! Maybe we could all try and do this in our local restaurants, and educate the chefs inside the kitchens by demand how to cook more consciously! If they used 'organic' fruits and vegetable and used their imaginations, there could be vegan creations that sound delicious and still make a profit from!

They would not even have to label the dishes vegan....vegans are by nature food detectives...and we all network where we can actually eat a creative vegan meal...and not just a boring tossed salad prepared by chefs who don't think outside the square!

So I am going to leave you with a beautiful recipe idea for any restaurant, or your own kitchen..a nice romantic meal for your partner if you want to make an extra effort, and that is a "Veggie Stack!"
Vegan and Gluten Free, and don't forget the candles!

Vegan Era

Using organic produce, it goes like this:
- Egg plant thickly sliced and fried in olive oil and garlic, set aside
- Baked sliced zucchinis, brushed with 1/2 cup pine nuts,
- Big hand full fresh basil and 1/2 cup olive oil in blender,
- Pinch salt
- Tofu sliced thinly, rolled in cornflower and shallow fried in blended: 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tsp sweet chilli sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/3 cup peanut oil,1/4 cup brown vinegar, 1 tsp brown sugar
- Toasted spelt bread, cut into shape of stack (circled egg plant size) brushed with remaining zucchini pesto/oil

Stack everything up, glue it all together with some napolitana sauce. Put it in the oven on 200c for 25 minutes. Add a basil leaf at the top and drizzle left over pesto with some olive oil around the plate!
