U.S. companies have found keeping workers healthy and happy through a wellness program has ensured business success. Employees call in sick less, are more productive and ensure morale in the work place. Some companies even offer incentives to ensure workers success. For example if you
give up smoking you will receive an extra $150 a month - if you walk to work you receive monetary incentive - and if you implement more fruits and vegetables into your diet, taking care of your nutrient earns you dollars too.
Barry Hall, global research leader for Buck, said
"We're finding that it is by far not the first thing to be cut," he said. "The belief and the whole objective and reasons for putting in these programs in the first place are different than they were in the past."
"In the past they were thought of as a perk or benefit for people. Today it's much more strategic. It's about how do we get every employee more engaged about their health and their lifestyle,"
In a recent online survey that sampled more than 1,100 employers from 45 countries representing more than 10 Million workers; found that 64% have implemented wellness programs.
It is not just employees, employers and the business seeing results - the countries on a whole notice a drastic improvement. If people are more healthy, less needs to be spent on health care which in turn leaves more money in the back pockets of the country.
I think they call this a win-win-(win)-(win) situation
What a great initiative, thank you to all business an employees participating in this wonderful program. Be Love, Be Peace, BE VEGAN; Save Our Home.
