The Other You
Share   Last week I was sent some information about an
VeganEra international anti-poverty agency that I had never heard of before, called ActionAid. Active in over 40 countries across the world, they work in partnership with over 2,000 organisations - from small community groups to national alliances and international networks - to address the root causes of poverty, not just the effects.

So I thought I’d share their latest campaign with you which I think is pretty cool. It’s called The Other You. Let me introduce it to you…

It’ s all about what you would do to help the world if you had another ‘You.’ Do you ever dream that, if you didn’t have the bills to pay, the family to look after, etc , etc, you would be doing more to help the world?

The Other You campaign connects people with ActionAid activists on the ground doing just that. In Australia, Cambodia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda and Bangladesh, ActionAid activists work towards protecting people’s basic rights – food rights, education, women’s rights and land rights to name a few. But in order to do the amazing work they’re doing, activists need continued moral and financial support.

The Other You Campaign gives you the opportunity to provide this support. From as little as $1 a day, you can help ActionAid workers affect real change and do this work that - given the time and opportunity - you yourself might like to do. The work and progress of the Activists can be followed and monitored on their ActionAid activist Facebook pages.

The campaign video explains The Other You in more detail:

What would the other you do? from ActionAid Australia on Vimeo.

ActionAid is a not-for-profit, rights based anti-poverty agency addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice - not just the effects. At the heart of their work is the belief that every person has a right to food, shelter, work, education, health care and democratic governance. ActionAid strives to help the world’s most vulnerable – particularly women and children - access these rights.

So ask yourself, “What would The Other You do?” For more information check out their site.
